Microsoft Great Plains Foundational Functions

The Microsoft Great Plains software is good for many different businesses to help keep track of all of their accounting needs. It contains many different programs that not only work together, but also are able to be used independently to better be able to serve the needs of each and every individual business. Some of the modules that are available with the Great Plains software include basic foundational functions.

The Analysis Cube is a software program that works together with Microsoft Excel. This program is a core component of the Microsoft Great Plains software. It utilizes the power of SQL servers and helps to define and extract important data and put it into a form that is easy to read and understand. It also contains the Excel Pivot Table Generator which allows users to organize the data in many different ways to best make the point they are trying to make.

The Report Writer is a useful tool to help users to create a professional looking report that is easy to follow. You can use one of the hundreds of templates that are available with the Great Plains software or you can create your own report from scratch. Reports can be chosen to publish at different time frames. You can choose to publish the report immediately or you can set the report to publish at a particular date or time. You can even choose to make a report publish on a reoccurring basis. Several different formats are supported including HTML documents and PDF files.

Security Manager is another important component with the Microsoft Great Plains software. This program allows users to customize their security settings for the best result for their individual needs. Errors are also analyzed by this part of the software and can, in most cases, be repaired without a technician logging into the computer.

Another part of the Great Plains software that is widely used is the Electronic Document Delivery. This program controls much of the e-mail work through Great Plains. A user can set up their e-mail program to deliver e-mails at a specific time rather than sending the e-mails immediately upon completion. You can also create rules for your e-mails such as making sure that each person you are e-mailing receives their e-mail in their preferred format. Some users can receive e-mails better in some formats than others.
